Week ahead: Apple, AMD and jobs Friday

AP's Morning Brief · Sunday, November 1, 2026 · week-ahead preview for Mon Nov 2 to Fri Nov 6 · times are ET

AP's Morning Brief banner: a coffee mug, a clock turned back one hour and a calendar marked jobs Friday. Fall back an hour. The week won't.

Brief art: AP's Morning Brief.

Good morning, everyone ☀️ Clocks fell back an hour overnight. The week ahead did not slow down with them.

Inside: Apple, Palantir and AMD earnings, four central-bank decisions and Friday's jobs report, day by day. Plus three Sunday headlines: OPEC+, Binance and the Iran talks.

BTW: The opening bell is still 9:30am ET on Monday. If you live somewhere that didn't change its clocks, it now rings an hour later for you.

Sunday headlines

Barrels on Pause

What happened? Seven core OPEC+ members agreed in principle at a Sunday online meeting to keep December output targets steady, according to Reuters. [8] [9] A separate layer of cuts of about 2 million barrels per day stays in place through the end of 2026. [9]

Doors Reopen

What happened? Binance began resuming withdrawals in phases on Sunday, starting with bitcoin. [10] [11] [12] The exchange said it has covered 95% of the $6.3 billion hit from last week's security incident, per Reuters. [10]

Doha, Day Three

What happened? Qatar-mediated talks on Iran went into a third day in Doha on Sunday. [13] For reference: U.S. and Iranian officials have not met directly, per Al Jazeera. [14]

Hangover Mode — Friday's close into Monday

U.S. averages finished Friday lower, with tech leading the way down after Amazon and Intel disappointed and Alphabet extended Thursday's drop — the setup CNBC framed as a wobbly AI trade heading into a heavy earnings week (CNBC, Oct 30, 2026).

On the ETF tape (Yahoo Finance daily bars, week of Mon Oct 26–Fri Oct 30, 2026, pulled Nov 1, 2026):

CNBC also noted Alphabet's roughly 12% Thursday plunge (worst one-day decline on record in that piece) and another 1.7% Friday, plus the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) down 2.4% for the week. Translation for Monday: Apple and Palantir report after the close into that hangover (week-ahead calendar · earnings calendar · levels sheet).

Sirius XM — Quiet Dial, Loud Analysts

Sirius XM (NASDAQ: SIRI) is on the tape after Rosenblatt maintained a Buy and raised its price target to $47 from $46, pointing to a durable core subscription business plus optionality from spectrum and YouTube audio ads (TradingView / Rosenblatt note, fetched Nov 1, 2026).

That is a one-dollar PT lift, not a rating change — still a Buy. Separately, Sirius XM's own calendar had third-quarter results around Oct 29, 2026 (company IR / contemporaneous coverage), so the analyst tweak lands next to a fresh fundamentals print. For the week ahead, treat SIRI as a single-name story inside a market still digesting Mag-7 cash-flow scares — not a broad sector call.

Mortgage rates — Freddie 7.24% / 6.60%

Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey put the 30-year fixed at 7.24% and the 15-year at 6.60% as of Oct 29, 2026 — both down 8 basis points from the prior week (7.32% / 6.68%). A year earlier the same survey showed 6.17% (30-year) and 5.41% (15-year) (Freddie Mac PMMS).

Canadian angle (Bank of Canada Valet, free, no key): the policy interest rate (target overnight, V39079) is 2.50% as of Oct 29, 2026, after the Bank raised the policy rate by 25 basis points to 2½% on Oct 28, 2026. The conventional 5-year mortgage (V80691335) prints 6.19% as of Oct 28, 2026. Full tracker with history: apsmorningbrief.com/mortgage-rates.
